Description

optiMist is a low-pressure humidification system designed for adiabatic humidification and direct or indirect evaporative cooling in large spaces. The system uses compressed air to atomize water into extremely fine droplets, which are readily absorbed by the airflow. As the water evaporates, it removes heat from the air, creating an adiabatic cooling effect. This makes the system suitable not only for humidity control but also for temperature regulation, either as a standalone solution or in combination with air handling units (AHUs).

A single unit can serve up to two zones and can be equipped with humidity distribution manifolds fitted with nozzles to improve the absorption of the fine water droplets. The unit's pump and valves provide two-stage control, operating either sequentially within the same zone to deliver continuous humidification or independently across two separate zones. The latter configuration is particularly suitable for applications combining direct evaporative cooling in the supply air with indirect evaporative cooling in the exhaust air.

The system features a flexible controller with a user-friendly display and intuitive menus. It can operate as a standalone unit using on/off humidity control via an internal sensor or be controlled by an external humidity sensor or a building management system (BMS). External communication is provided via an RS485 serial interface using Modbus RTU. Additional communication options are available, including Ethernet (RJ45) supporting TCP/IP, BACnet, and Modbus RTU.

Typical optiMist applications include:

• Data centres, hotels, supermarkets, and shopping centres
• Manufacturing and process industries, including printing, textile, wood, and paper production
• Cleanrooms, hospitals, and office environments
• Cold storage rooms, heat recovery units, and air handling units (AHUs)

Accessories

The product can be equipped with a wide range of accessories, including UV water treatment for enhanced hygiene, a WTS (Water Treatment System), and external temperature, humidity, air quality, or combined temperature and humidity sensors for room installation. Please contact your sales representative to discuss the best configuration for your application.

Installation

The system consists of several components, including a wall-mounted control cabinet housing the pump and controller. It is complemented by a stainless steel humidity distribution manifold with spray nozzles and a droplet separator.

For optimum performance, the unit should be connected to a Water Treatment System (WTS, optional), which demineralizes the water using reverse osmosis. Direct connection to the existing water supply is possible but not recommended. Components required for water supply connections are not included.

For detailed information on installation requirements, electrical and control wiring, and system configuration, please refer to the Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual (IOM) available below (PDF, English).

Operation & Maintenance

Built-in features such as automatic periodic flushing cycles and automatic water drainage, combined with high-quality components, ensure reliable operation with minimal maintenance requirements.

For optimum performance and simplified maintenance, the system should be used in combination with a Water Treatment System (WTS). For enhanced hygiene, the unit can also be equipped with optional UV water treatment.

Service intervals depend on the quality of the incoming water supply and the unit's operating hours. All service and maintenance must be carried out by qualified personnel.
