Steam is generated by introducing water into the electrode cylinder (steam cylinder). The water is heated when it comes into contact with the electrodes, meaning that no current can flow between the electrodes without water. Dry firing is therefore impossible. Steam generation starts rapidly and increases as the water level rises. The higher the water level around the electrodes, the higher the current and steam output. The water level, and thereby the steam output, is controlled according to the humidifier controller settings. This control method provides a high degree of flexibility in steam output across the unit's operating range. Steam production can be controlled either by on/off operation or by modulating control via a potentiometer-based sensor (humidistat) or another external control signal. The steam is distributed directly into the room via the unit's integrated fan.
