Description
humiSonic Ventilation is an ultrasonic humidifier designed for duct distribution via ventilation systems. The ultrasonic technology enables humidification with extremely fine aerosol particles (1–5 μm), as the process generates a fine mist that is directly absorbed by the airflow. This characteristic ensures rapid evaporation of the atomised water particles and prevents unwanted condensation.
humiSonic provides a high level of control for temperature and humidity regulation (±1% from setpoint). The unit has low power consumption and provides maximum energy savings compared with steam humidification. Combined with CAREL’s market-leading technology, the ultrasonic solution is both efficient, reliable and versatile.
The product consists of two units: a humidification module installed in the duct system and a separate electrical and control cabinet available in master and sub-unit versions. The humidification module utilises the air velocity in the duct and requires an airflow velocity of at least 1.5 up to 3.0 m/s across the humidifier. To ensure full absorption into the airflow, a straight duct section of at least 60 cm is required downstream of the humidifier.
The combined electrical and control cabinet is wall-mounted outside the duct system and supplies power to the humidification module. The master unit features an integrated control panel with LCD display and can operate as a stand-alone unit with a humidistat or be equipped with a control board for connection to a humidistat or higher-level control system, such as a BMS. External control is available via either Modbus RTU or an analogue control signal. A wide range of accessories enables simplified and reliable operation through automation, adaptation to specific system requirements, and scalability through the master/sub-unit principle. One master unit can control up to three sub-units.
humiSonic is suitable for:
• Cleanrooms, hospitals and pharmaceutical production environments.
• Industrial applications – textile, printing and paper industries.
• Residential and public environments – shopping centres, offices, museums and libraries.
• Data centres, electronics production, cold rooms or other evaporative cooling applications.
humiSonic is also available in a version for room distribution. For more information, see humi Sonic Direct.
Capacities
• 2.4 / 4.8 / 7.2 / 9.6 / 14.4 / 18 kg/h
Accessories
A complete range of accessories is available for the product, such as temperature, humidity, air quality or combined sensors (temperature and humidity) for room or duct installation, available in versions for digital (RS485) or analogue (0–10 V or 4–20 mA) connection. Please contact our sales team for specific requirements.
Examples of additional accessories:
• Control board for the master unit for direct connection to a control system via an RS485 interface.
• Components for overflow monitoring (FLOS).
• Flow sensor (TAM).
Replacement components
• Piezoelectric transducer (service interval: 10,000 hours)
Installation
humiSonic Direct is designed for installation in duct systems or air handling units (AHU). The unit is connected to the existing ventilation system, which distributes the aerosol particles to the required areas. To ensure correct operation, it is important that the requirements regarding straight duct length and airflow velocity are met. To ensure correct functionality, the unit should be connected to a water treatment system (WTS), which demineralises the water through reverse osmosis. Direct connection to the existing water supply is not recommended. Components required for connection to the water supply are not included in the delivery. The unit can be equipped with a control board (accessory) for external regulation. For further details regarding installation requirements, electrical and control connections, and operating configuration, please refer to the product’s installation and user manual below (PDF format, English).
Operation / Maintenance
Integrated functions such as periodic flushing cycles and complete water drainage, combined with high-quality stainless-steel components and a non-recirculating water design, contribute to reliable operation and simplified maintenance. The product should be complemented with a water treatment system (WTS), ensuring a service life of 10,000 hours for replacement components. The service interval depends directly on the quality of the supply water and the operating time of the unit. Maintenance must only be carried out by qualified personnel.
